Our Sweet Big Babygirl

At this moment, two years ago, I was hooked up to an IV, enjoying the sweet spinal cocktail that is the epidural. They had just asked me to start pushing, and I did my best even though I couldn't feel anything below my chest. Two stressful hours later, Little Nugget came into this world. Team Nugget would never be the same again, in a way that we never imagined.

Our Sweet Babygirl turned two today. I'm speechless. How did this happen? It just seems like yesterday that we were firmly entrenched in Baby Boot camp. It was trying, but one memory that I carry of that period is the night Hubby Nugget got home from his night shift and even though the Little One had gone to sleep, we watched a movie (The Station Attendant) at 3am and ate Raspberry choco-chip ice cream that he had brought home in a Styrofoam cup from the work cafeteria. Little moments like that made Boot camp easier. We lucked out, it only lasted a month and a half, by Christmas, she was sleeping 6-7 hours at a stretch at night and it was bliss.

Now, she's a little person, with personality and an opinion she's not afraid to share (Me no want!) I'm not too good at expressing mushiness, even though I am generally a very sentimental person, so I won't be writing Little Nugget one of those three-hanky letters. But I have some observations:

What we see: a beautiful little girl, full of spunk. She's smart, athletic, and reminds me so much of her daddy in her devilish grin. I can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

What we hear: She cracks us up with her jibber-jabber! Her pronunciations are obnoxiously cute: we often ask her to say words just to hear her say them. Our personal favorites are turtle, triangle, wink (for oink!) and kirkle (for circle)--that's the best one. She often surprises us with how much she knows--her brain is a tiny sponge of goodness.

What we know: Love, Love, Love! It doesn't get any better than that.

Happy Birthday Little Nugget!

The Devil Wears Buttercream Frosting...

Just a general observation. And I know this, so why am I fooled everytime? I think I can handle it, but who am I kidding. I'm defenseless around buttercream frosting. I'm sure I'm not alone. So for those of you out there who share my affection for icing, DON"T buy an Elmo birthday cake made of cupcakes. Why, you ask?

  • The cupcakes are held together with icing!!!! Good Lord.
  • Elmo is fuzzy. So they make Elmo fuzzy. With icing.

But it was a very cute cake, and pics will be posted of the festivities after I come down off my sugar high.

Yes She Can!!!

Team Nugget went out for Mexican last night (the official food of Team Nugget).

In the middle of dinner out of nowhere, Little Nugget stands up, throws her arms above her head, and shouts at the top of her lungs for all to hear:

"YEAAAA OOOOHHHHBAAAHHHMMMMAAAHHHH YEAAAAAA!!!!!"

Said Hubby Nugget, "She doesn't know how happy she has made her daddy!"

We still don't know what prompted this prostelitizing.

She's a complicated girl.

All for now,

It Was a Good Day...

Team Nugget publicly displayed its World Domination tonight at Buffalo Wild Wings where we were high scorers at the Trivia game thingy, coming in first and second, blowing the competition out of the water!! Yours truly scored 382nd nationwide (or network-wide)--only 381 positions more to go!!! Victory is ours!!!

It was a good day at work, too. The departmental meeting was a success, no staff or small animals were sacrificed. You just have to remember to avoid eye contact...it angers them. One of them spoke to me today in a non-confrontational tone. Spooky. They're up to something...

All for now,

Team Nugget Picto-rama, part 1

I am sooo behind in posting..not so much because I have nothing to say, but because I have too much to write about. So of course I say nothing. Go figure. So I am going to combine the 4 posts I have rolling around in my head into two. Part one will consist of Little Nugget festivities, part two will document the recent adventures of me and my nugget. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Recently we attended the nuptials of my brother and now sister-in-law, congrats guys!!! Before the festivities, Little Nugget monkeyed around with her cousins K and K. She and K are only 4 months apart so they are becoming partners in crime, allegedly. Here I tried to get a picture of the three of them, only the Little Nugget was having none of it, as she is a Nugget on the go. No time for pics. Must run free. It was a nice photo of K and K, though!

Inside, the Sweet Babygirl and cousin K played tag. It was so cute, as this was really the first time the Little Nugget actually played with another youngster her age, not just played next to them. She's such a big girl!!!! She had a blast!

She stopped only briefly for a pic with Daddy!

This is what happened after Hubby Nugget put her down!!! Off like a flash!!! I'd say it's a safe bet she'll be a little athletic when she grows up.

She is full of beandip, but you've guessed that by now, I'm sure.

Fast forward to the Monkey trying on the shoes that she got from her cousins M & G. Love, Love Love the hand-me-downs, especially with a growing nugget. Those new shoes she wore to the wedding, she outgrew them the next week. Seriously! She's got big boats. Plus, she's not even two and she's already crazy about shoes. Just look at her! She kept saying "shoe!!! pretty!!!" How does that happen? Is there some gene that I've passed on unwittingly?

A couple of weekends ago, our new hometown hosted a Fall Festival, complete with carnival rides!!! Babygirl has never experienced the joy that is a carnival, so we were so there. Conveniently, the event was held practically in our backyard, so we hoofed it to the square for a Team Nugget night on the town. First stop was food, Mexican being the official food of Team Nugget. Monkey sat in the booster seat like a big girl...

...then posed in the signboard that they had made for her. Apparently they knew she was coming.

Carnival rides are a lot more expensive than we remembered!

But so worth it! She loved this one so much she had to do it twice!

Her first carousel ride! Wasn't quite as thrilling as the giant slide, but she still enjoyed it!

AAAhhhhh, my sweet nuggets! XOXOX
